Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Per Diem Grief Counselor to provide emotional support and counseling services to individuals, families, and groups coping with grief and loss. This role involves working on an as-needed basis to offer short-term counseling, facilitate grief support groups, and provide crisis intervention. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of grief processes and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to help clients navigate their emotional challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group grief counseling sessions to clients coping with loss, including death, terminal illness, and other significant life changes.
- Offer crisis intervention and immediate emotional support to individuals in distress.
- Facilitate grief support groups, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for participants.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (social workers, medical professionals, etc.) to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation in compliance with organizational and legal requirements.
- Offer guidance on coping strategies and provide resources to clients to assist them in their grief process.
- Stay informed on best practices and developments in grief counseling and bereavement support.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or equivalent state licensure.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in grief counseling or bereavement support.
- Certification in grief counseling is preferred (e.g., Certified Grief Counselor).
- Ability to use electronic health record-keeping systems like TheraNest
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to offer empathy and support to individuals during difficult times.
- Experience in group facilitation and support group leadership is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, with flexibility to be available on an as-needed/per diem basis.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel to various locations to meet with clients or facilitate groups, as needed.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, depending on client needs.
