Receptionist
Location: Newark, NJ
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Working hours: 9 am – 5:30 pm (Saturday- Sunday)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Location Manager, the Receptionist interacts with families during their time of need and is responsible for creating and maintaining a premier level of client family satisfaction. In addition, this position may perform various services and client relations activities while establishing and maintaining effective communication of efforts with Funeral Directors, office administrative staff, and company officials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Because all Cotton Funeral employees represent Cotton Funeral Services, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Funeral home in performing their work.
- Answer multi-line phone and direct calls to appropriate team members.
- Greets and receives families and other persons entering the office for information and assistance. Answers questions, escort visitors, research patron files and records, and assists as needed.
- Maintains a friendly attitude while offering assistance and guidance to all persons entering the location.
- Maintaining visitors log
- Distribute Death Certificates and maintain the pick-up log
- Distribute Cremains and maintain the pick-up log
- Maintain the flower delivery log
- Update website with decedents Obituaries
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:
- High School / Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Minimum of 5 years customer service experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be able to read and interpret policies, procedures, contracts, and customer files such as internment rights records.
- Provide excellent customer service skills by responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, co-workers, or business community members.
- Effectively present information to descendants’ family members, co-workers, and management.
- Highly proficiency in technology and Microsoft applications
- Work independently with initiative and little supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Great team player.
- Punctual nature and ability to handle schedule flexibility and dynamic work environment.
- Professional appearance.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Sit for sustained periods daily.
- Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.
- Requires ability to lift or move objects 50 pounds or more frequently.
- Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
