Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized accounting intern to join our team. This role will be responsible for key financial processes, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable reconciliations, expense management, year-end audits, and intercompany transactions. This is a part-time, hybrid position, requiring 1 day a week onsite.

Schedule Requirements:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during core business hours, totaling 20 hours per week.
  • Ability to work onsite, including but not limited to, one day per week, and the first business day of every month.

Accounting Intern Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares training materials for Concur expense software.
  • Processes deposits for corporate entities and properties.
  • Assists with weekly cash reconciliation and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Supports Accounts Payable by entering invoices into Yardi.
  • Assists with processing 1099s each year.
  • Print property checks as needed.
  • Assists with year-end audits and tax preparation worksheets.
  • Assists with updating consolidation files quarterly.
  • Supports miscellaneous accounting projects as required.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow through on several work assignments while simultaneously enrolled in school.

Education & Experience:

  • Must be a Junior or Senior working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Intermediate experience in expense management and accounting software.
  • Familiarity with Yardi is a plus.
  • Intermediate accounting skills in Accounts Payable and preparing journal entries.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant need for visual acuity in small detail, beyond arm’s reach, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Constant need for talking and hearing to communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Constant need to simultaneously use hand, wrist, and fingers to operate standard office equipment.
  • Frequent need for sitting, stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching to access files and/or standard office equipment.
  • Stand or walk or sit alternatively depending on the day’s needs. Estimate 25% of time is spent standing or walking and 75% sitting at a desk.
