II. NATURE OF WORK
This is professional work overseeing development and management of marketing, public relations and outreach programs for the Council on Aging of St. Lucie, Inc. The Marketing / Public Relations Manager is responsible for planning and developing marketing and outreach programs of the Council On Aging and coordination of services with other community agencies. This position is responsible for marketing and community relations including fundraising for Council on Aging of St. Lucie, Inc. This position is reviewed through conferences, reports and evaluation of program effectiveness.
III. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain and/or improve community occupancy level and revenue production in accordance with business and marketing plans.
2. Plan, develop, and execute community based programs, events, press releases etc.
3. Responsible for presenting and implementation of an annual (July 1) marketing and development plan noting methods , means and associated costs, including sales goals and objectives, to be approved by President /CEO.
4. Responsible for on-going growth of all private pay programs through continued sales efforts including cold calls, scheduled appointments etc. Increase all private pay programs through community visibility, education of the community, local businesses, and organizations.
5.Work closely with a variety of community social and health providing agencies, both public and private, with responsibility for expediting the establishment of new community resources in order to provided efficient and effective services.
6. Lead and manage department, public relations and marketing tools to improve effective resources supporting client needs with the goal of continuous improvement.
7. Develop and oversee marketing strategy, set marketing goals and track marketing performance.
8. Perform oversight and coordination of Outreach and Consumer service department staff.
9. Maintain a climate which attracts, retains and motivates top quality people, both professional and volunteer.
10. Responsible for implementation of policy as directed by the COO.
11. Responsible for the implementation of all steps necessary to carry out the marketing and increased revenue of social service programs.
12. Increase community awareness through participation in outside events, professional associations, and local community involvement.
13. Identify, develop and administer a Corporate and private donor giving program.
14. Serve as a local advocate for senior citizens to facilitate, that necessary resources are made to address their needs and provide opportunities for senior input under the direction of the COO.
15. Make sound recommendations for COO action and facilitate the decision making process.
16. Inform the COO of organizational activities, progress and problems.
17. Participate in preparation of grant applications and bid specifications.
18. Assist the Outreach and Consumer Service Department to develop a continuing community outreach and education program with regard to all senior services programs, including transit.
19. Coordinate with other community based programs and services.
20. Attend all relevant meetings and conferences. Maintain availability for weekend and evening educational and public relations opportunities. Oversee the Outreach team and coordinate speaking engagements with community resources specifically targeting the frail elderly senior population especially multicultural events in the community.
21. Maintain high visibility in community events such as health fairs and health screenings. Distribution of service information to doctor’s offices; hospitals, medical facilities and churches and local law enforcement.
22. Oversee and assist in preparation of CoASL newsletter and agency brochures and publications.
23. Assist with research, development and implementation of private pay opportunities in all senior service programs, including in-home services and transportation.
24. In the event the President of the United States or the Governor of the State of Florida declares a disaster or a state of emergency, the Marketing and Public Relations Manager shall perform his/her duties under the direction of the President / CEO as prescribed by the COASL Disaster Preparedness Plan in order to implement emergency relief measures and/or activities. All actions under this plan shall be for the purpose of ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the elderly in the disaster area.
25. Display initiative in presenting supervisors with new ideas to benefit the Council, its staff and its clients.
26. Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times with supervisors, co-workers, staff, clients and the general public.
27. Other duties as required by the Chief Operating Officer.
