CIS is a community-based organization, founded in 1986 with a mission to bring quality counseling to students and their families in New York City Public Schools. The philosophy of CIS is to identify, develop, and reinforce the strengths and resilience inherent in everyone. We work from a multiple perspective approach, assessing each child's developmental, social, emotional, and cultural viewpoint. All our programs serve to support the development of each child so they may experience academic success on their way to becoming more productive members of their communities.
The CSD will be responsible for all aspects of Other Than Personnel Service (OTPS) budget management including but not limited to program planning, purchasing, tracking balances, and expense protocol compliance.
CSD’s responsibilities will include:
- Managing on-site CIS team – including running team meetings, approving timesheets, approving invoices and expense reports; and acting as a liaison to CIS Clinical, Program Director and Admin teams.
- Creating, coordinating and attending meetings with stakeholders, including PTAs, student leaders, parent coordinators, parent leaders, school leadership teams, cabinet members, and other community-based organizations to foster communication and increase student access to support.
- Collect, analyze and use data to inform decision making and program implementation
- Developing a resource database, sent to families as a newsletter, which highlights community-based services.
- Organizing school-wide initiatives, including neighborhood family fairs.
- Organize a monthly mental health initiative as required by certain schools.
- Coordinating family outreach for school visiting providers (i.e. Vision Van)
- Sharing information through faculty presentations, parent summits, resource fairs and the creation of a resource manual.
- Researching and identifying community resources and assisting family access to the identified community resources.
- Familiarity with remote learning platforms including G Suite, Zoom, Webex, Microsoft Teams, etc.
- Creative and innovative thinker.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- The ability to multitask and prioritize assignments & tasks.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years experience working with young people (in-school and/or out-of-school settings)
- Master's Degree in Social Worker, Education or related field
- Exceptional leadership skills and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Significant supervisory experience
- Commitment to professional development
- Demonstrated goal orientation and focus on outcomes and results
- A demonstrated ability to effectively work with students who have been traditionally under-served including English Language Learners, children with special needs, children who have been or are currently involved in the child welfare system, or children living below self-sufficiency.

- Bilingual Spanish/English Skills Major Plus!
