What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community School Director position at SCO Family of Services?
Responsibilities
- The Community Schools Director will oversee the Community School budget and ensure compliance with the Office of Community Schools fiscal regulations
- The Community Schools Director will implement several core components of the community school initiative, which include student supportive interventions, parent engagement activities, social and emotional wellness programs, college and career preparation, and connecting school with community based resources
- The Community Schools Director will serve as the primary liaison between DOE, SCO Family of Services, and contracted providers
- In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience in leadership roles and familiarity with New York City schools working with multiple stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with school administrators and staff to develop, implement, and assess the Community School initiatives within the school
- Develop strong relationships with parents, students, and teachers, and ensure that all stakeholders understand what a community school is and how it supports student achievement- especially as relates to developing, implementing, and assessing the Community School initiatives within the school
- Assist with data collection, research and prepare relevant data for outcomes evaluation and data-based decision making
- Identify the needs of students, apply interventions and track and monitor interventions on a weekly basis as part of the multi-tier support system to determine and address barriers to school attendance and on-time grade completion
- Manage and conduct attendance outreach, data entry, conferences, and attendance incentive activities, in collaboration with Advocate Counselors and other school staff
- Organize special events, including annual Community Forum, mini-conferences, parent nights, performances, and other events in collaboration with the school leadership team
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field preferred or Bachelor's with 3 years experience in Youth Development
- At least three years of relevant experience
- Experience managing large contracts and meeting multiple contractual obligations
- Experience working in school-based settings with knowledge about community organizing, student support services, and youth development
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, and community partners
- Commitment to and understanding of working in culturally diverse settings
Salary Range: $70,500 - $75,000
