About the Job:

The Vice President, Controller will work under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer, and is responsible for management of the finance function of the Bank. This role establishes, coordinates and maintains an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the financial institution, protecting assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.  

The pay range for this position is $115,000 to $145,000; Starting pay determined based on candidate’s qualifications and experience.

This position is Full Time, 40 hours weekly. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other Duties May be Assigned):

• Supervises Finance Department staff and finance duties including treasury management, accounts payable and Bank reporting. 
• Monitors cost control activities, including approving and implementing cost control strategies on an as-needed basis.
• Ensures that the financial institution’s accounting procedures are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Prepares periodic audit schedules and fiscal year-end audit reports for review by external auditors.  Monitors implementation and follow-through of departmental audit activities and is the liaison to the Bank’s external auditors and tax consultants. 
• Prepares periodic tax schedules and ensures timely filing and payment of state and federal taxes.
• Oversees preparation of bank-wide budgets, including assisting personnel throughout the bank, and periodic analysis of budget variance.
• Works with various departments in trouble shooting and reconciling issues which may affect financial record keeping.
• Oversees preparation of monthly and quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees.  
• Evaluates and negotiates contracts and agreements with appropriate vendors.
• Responsible to create and manage annual departmental budget.
• Works to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction while minimizing losses to the bank.

Knowledge and Skills

It is preferred that the employee in this position can manage a team, working independently.  Must have a commitment to customer service in a supporting role with the ability to build strategy and communicate those strategies effectively to the management team. Knowledge of federal and state laws governing banking, rules and regulations, etc. is necessary. 

This position requires intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.  A minimum of five years management experience and knowledge of a Bank core operating system is required, Finastra preferred. 

Education and Work Experience

A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, is required, Master’s degree or Certified Public Accountant preferred, plus a minimum of five to eight years of related banking experience with at least three to five in a management role.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

This position is in an office environment, which means the physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards, with a moderate level of noise. Prolonged periods of sitting and looking at a computer screen with freedom of movement on a regular basis is expected.  Minimal physical effort is required but could include: repetitive motion of wrists and fingers; talking and hearing; and handling of light materials and supplies.
