Job Summary:The Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a warm, nurturing, and safe environment that supports the physical, emotional, and spiritual development of young children. The teacher will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, foster positive relationships with children and families, and maintain a well-organized classroom. The teacher will also demonstrate, through words and actions, a love of God and a commitment to the well-being of every child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Spiritual and Emotional Environment:
- Provide an atmosphere that reflects love for God and others, modeling kindness and respect in interactions with children and colleagues.
- Classroom Preparation and Management:
- Prepare the classroom each morning and be ready to accept children by 8:30 a.m.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.
- Regularly inspect and remove broken or unsafe toys and equipment.
- Follow health and safety standards, including proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
- Physical Requirements:
- Be physically capable of lifting and carrying children up to 35 pounds.
- Engage in activities that require physical interaction, such as sitting on the floor, diaper changing, and supervising outdoor play.
- Child and Parent Interaction:
- Greet children and parents by name, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment.
- Ensure accurate sign-in and sign-out of children during drop-off and pick-up.
- Release children only to authorized individuals, verifying identification as needed.
- Supervision and Safety:
- Supervise children at all times, ensuring they are never left unattended.
- Adhere to required child-to-teacher ratios.
- Stay fully engaged with children, avoiding distractions such as personal phone use or other non-work-related activities.
- Routine and Activities:
- Provide a consistent daily routine that allows for child choice and autonomy.
- Develop and implement creative, developmentally appropriate activities that reflect the children's interests and needs.
- Rotate toys and materials regularly to encourage exploration and learning.
- Document each child's growth and development in individual portfolios.
- Health and Hygiene:
- Follow all procedures for diapering, toileting, and handwashing.
- Clean and sanitize surfaces, toys, and equipment regularly, using the 3-step cleaning method.
- Change crib sheets as needed, and sanitize sleeping areas daily.
- Behavior Guidance:
- Utilize positive discipline strategies that promote self-regulation and respect.
- Document and report persistent behavior challenges to the Director.
- Incident and Illness Reporting:
- Report any injuries or accidents to parents and complete incident reports as required.
- Document and report any signs of child abuse to the Director immediately.
- Notify the Director if a child is suspected of being ill, and follow guidelines for sending children home.
- Professional Development:
- Complete 12 hours of professional development annually, including maintaining current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.
- Participate in mandatory staff meetings and other required events.
- Attendance and Time Management:
- Clock in no more than 5 minutes before your scheduled shift and clock out no later than 3:15 p.m. or after completing your duties.
- Request time off in advance, and document in the Payroll Exception Log to receive payment.
- Schedule personal appointments outside of work hours whenever possible. Notify the Director by 7:00 a.m. if you are unable to attend work due to illness or emergency.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure all children are engaged and supervised.
- Perform administrative tasks and deep cleaning during nap time or when children are not present.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on classroom needs or program requirements.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
