Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled, professional, and personable Bartender to join our team. As a key part of the club’s dining and social experience, you will be responsible for preparing, pouring, and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with a focus on quality and presentation. The ideal candidate has a solid knowledge of mixology, wine pairings, and beverage service protocols and excels in creating a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests. Country Club of Charleston pays a higher wage as tips are not expected.
Job Tasks/Duties:
· Inspect the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available.
· Request additional supplies as necessary and stock the bar.
· Thoroughly complete all pre and post-shift checklists, ensuring all necessary tools, glassware, and garnishes are prepared.
· Restock the bar as necessary, ensuring all liquor, beer, wine, tobacco, and sundries are well-maintained.
· Maintain the cleanliness of the bar area, including washing glasses, wiping surfaces, and organizing the station.
· Greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
· Mix, prepare, and serve drinks according to recipes approved by the Beverage Manager.
· Prepare garnishes and mix pre-made drinks as needed.
· Serve beverages to members and guests, including those seated at lounge tables when a beverage server is unavailable.
· Collect payment for drinks served, ensuring accurate transactions.
· Report any guest complaints promptly to the manager.
· Maintain records of liquors, beers, wines, and other supplies to ensure the bar is fully stocked.
· Keep daily inventory and monitor popular drink trends to adjust stock accordingly.
· Follow all laws and club policies regarding the service of alcoholic beverages.
· Monitor and ensure compliance with alcohol service protocols, including refusing service when necessary.
· Adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines in all aspects of beverage preparation and service.
· Perform the required role during emergency situations, remaining calm and professional.
· Thank guests and invite them to return, fostering a positive and friendly atmosphere.
· Attend staff meetings and pre-shift (line-up) as required.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations:
· Proficient in preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes.
· Skilled at refusing service when necessary and adhering to safety standards.
· Organizational skills for managing bar supplies and service flow.
· Basic knowledge of POS systems (ClubEssential preferred).
· Knowledgeable about club operations, events, and hours.
· Ability to read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and work independently or as part of a team during club events.
· Ability to work in both large and small events, providing excellent service with minimal supervision.
- Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Licenses and Special Requirements
· Alcohol beverage certification (TIPS)
· Of legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages (21 years of age in South Carolina)
Physical Requirements:
· Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
· Ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
· Performa continuous repetitive motions.
Work in a hot, humid and noisy environment.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
