 character expectations:

  • You need to be reliable. Come to work 30-60 minutes before your shift starts so you can effectively transition with the preceding shift, same thing at the end of your shift. Don’t be absent and don’t be late.
  • The workplace is no place for weapons, drugs, or alcohol. It will not be tolerated from anyone or by anyone.
  • Our workforce is our most valuable resource! Treat everyone fair and respectfully. Don't create issues, Resolve them!
  • We are made up of many different ethnic backgrounds, languages, personalities, and organizations. Your job is to work with all of them in a professional manner.
  • Things will go wrong, that is a given. It’s how you handle the “tough times” that are the true mark of your skills and the value you add. People that quit, lash out or blame someone else will never get very far.
  • Your word is your bond. What you say, write, email, send, and or do has your name on it. Be forthright in good times and in difficult ones, too. When you can’t be trusted, your career is already on “borrowed time”.
  • If you don’t possess both a “can do” attitude and a sense of urgency to make things happen, you will not last here.
  • You too will have bad days. We all do. It’s how you handle them that determines what you are made of. Developing a “bad attitude” and taking it out on the people you encounter each day, will only “spread like a disease”. Coming to grips with the issue, learning from it, cleaning up the mess, and developing methods for avoiding recurrences will prevent some future “bad days” for you.
  • Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of maturity. It is not possible to know everything or to be an expert on most. Make sure you are asking for help, not whining about your situation. The first will be well received, the latter will be ignored.
  • Not everyone will always behave correctly or professionally. You can’t control everyone, the only person you can control is yourself.
