POSITION SUMMARY
Facilitate the date-to-day operations of the maintenance department by ensuring proper operating and maintenance of the hotel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintenance of entire hotel, guest rooms, and public spaces
- Complete and record preventative maintenance schedule
- Daily inspection of all mechanical equipment, hotel interior, exterior, and grounds
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and building repairs as well as paint touch-ups as needed
- Monitor hotel operational status regularly and adjust as appropriate
- Implement quality control programs
- Monitor compliance with building safety codes, health and safety laws and other regulations, conduct walk-throughs to assess the safety and efficiency of equipment and maintenance of structure
- Assist with hotel renovations, project status, contractors, and hotel management
- Align with "Be Our Guest" service standards to build and reinforce skills that create a positive service culture that provides caring, comfortable, and consistent guest experiences
- Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility, and uses teamwork when providing guest service
- Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest problems
- Provides genuine hospitality and teamwork on a regular basis
- Assumes the responsibility to notice when a guest is not satisfied and works with other hotel departments to resolve issues
STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS
- Report to work regularly, neatly groomed, and in full uniform with name badge representing the hotel
- Able to work alone and with others while remaining on task and completing jobs in a timely fashion
- Able to prioritize tasks to ensure most important operational tasks are completed first
- Able to resolve conflicts with guests, supervisors, and co-workers
- Able to collaborate effectively with other hotel employees and managers to ensure teamwork is a consistent priority
- Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills
- Able to work quickly and calmly when needed
- Experience with various hand and power tools
- Remain in an On-Call status by being available to hotel management and co-workers via phone calls/texts outside of regular working hours to assist with questions and general maintenance issues
- Commitment to hotel to come in unscheduled if urgent maintenance issues arise
- Represent hotel at local health department meetings
OTHER INFORMATION
Regular attendance in essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facilities. Employees who violate company rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
JOB HOURS
Typically 8AM-4PM Monday-Friday, alternating weekends on schedule with 2 days off during the week. Ability to work on holidays is required, though working on holidays is not guaranteed.
