Are you ready to take the wheel in managing a fleet that keeps our campuses moving smoothly? We’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Fleet Manager to lead our fleet operations with a focus on efficiency, safety and cost-effectiveness. In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for ensuring our company vehicles and maintenance equipment at all 10 locations in Pennsylvania and one in Maryland are always ready for the road, from coordinating maintenance and managing resources ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Fleet Manager Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Operations:
    • Oversee the daily management of vehicle assignments, scheduling, and routing to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Monitor vehicle usage patterns, ensuring optimal asset utilization and minimizing downtime by adjusting routes or schedules as needed.
  • Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Develop and manage a preventive maintenance schedule to reduce vehicle downtime.
    • Ensure timely repairs and inspections are completed, either in-house or with third-party providers.
    • Maintain detailed maintenance logs to track repairs, service history, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure that all vehicles comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including licensing, insurance, and safety inspections.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and enforce policies that promote safe driving, including adherence to traffic laws and safe vehicle operation.
  • Budget and Cost Management:
    • Create and manage the fleet budget, including tracking expenses such as fuel, maintenance, repairs, and insurance.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce costs by implementing fuel-efficient practices, negotiating contracts with vendors, and optimizing vehicle performance and lifecycle management.
  • Fleet Inventory Management:
    • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of all fleet vehicles, including condition, mileage, and registration details.
    • Manage vehicle acquisition (purchases, leases) and disposal, ensuring the fleet remains aligned with company needs and cost-effective operations.
  • Driver Management and Training:
    • Supervise drivers to ensure adherence to company policies and safety standards.
    • Provide ongoing driver training programs focused on safe driving practices, vehicle care, and the use of fleet management tools, such as telematics or GPS systems.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Generate and analyze reports on key fleet metrics, such as fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and vehicle downtime.
    • Use data to identify trends and inefficiencies, making recommendations for improvements in fleet operations, and presenting findings to senior management.
Fleet Manager Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in fleet management or a related role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong background in auto technology, including understanding of vehicle systems, diagnostics, and maintenance processes. Familiarity with small engine repair and maintenance is a plus.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid driver’s license (required).
  • Pennsylvania State Inspection License (strongly preferred).
  • Tools: Own set of tools for vehicle maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Other Skills:
  • Knowledge of fleet management software and telematics tools.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
