The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has an opening for a full-time, exempt Director of Institutional Giving in the Development Department.
Company Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music—a musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city, the state, and the nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum proudly combines subject expertise, ambitious research, and preservation of an unparalleled collection with expressions of creativity in music, art, and history. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs, publications, and exhibitions. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its evolution as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.

Specific Job Duties Include:
Strategic Oversight and Leadership:
- Develop and implement a cohesive strategy for institutional and corporate giving that aligns with the Museum's mission, priorities, and financial goals.
- Lead and support the Senior Manager of Institutional Giving and the Senior Manager of Corporate Partnerships, ensuring synergy between grant-seeking and sponsorship efforts.
- Set revenue targets and performance metrics for both institutional and corporate fundraising, tracking progress and ensuring accountability.
- Serve as a primary liaison between Development, Marketing, Education, and Museum Services teams to align fundraising opportunities with Museum needs and initiatives.
- Oversee the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of government and foundation funding sources.
- Provide guidance on grant proposal development, ensuring compelling narratives, accurate budgets, and strong compliance with funder guidelines.
- Support grant administration, reporting, and relationship management to sustain and grow institutional funding partnerships.
- Work with Museum program staff to develop and evaluate projects suitable for institutional funding opportunities.
- Guide the development of corporate sponsorship strategies that support Museum exhibitions, programs, and special initiatives.
- Oversee prospecting, proposal development, and activation of sponsorship agreements to ensure mutual benefits for the Museum and corporate partners.
- Ensure seamless execution of sponsorship deliverables, including branding, hospitality, and community engagement elements.
- Expand and refine corporate membership initiatives, including the Museum’s Troubadour program for young professionals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, program teams, and marketing staff to identify and cultivate funding opportunities.
- Represent the Museum in meetings with government agencies, foundation program officers, and corporate partners.
- Serve as a key advocate for the Museum’s development goals within the organization and the broader community.
- Work closely with Finance to develop, track, and manage budgets for institutional and corporate revenue streams.
- Ensure compliance with all funding agreements, including timely reporting and fulfillment of contractual obligations.
- Maintain accurate records of funder communications, proposals, and contributions in the Tessitura database.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in institutional and/or corporate fundraising, with at least three years in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated success in securing and managing major grants and sponsorship agreements.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and support staff.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, including proposal writing, public speaking, and relationship-building.
- Proficiency with fundraising databases (Tessitura preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in a museum, cultural institution, or nonprofit organization.
- Knowledge of country music and an appreciation for its cultural impact.
- Familiarity with government grant sources such as the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Institute of Museum and Library Services.
- Experience structuring corporate sponsorships that integrate marketing and philanthropic goals.
