Responsibilities:
- Maintain the integrity of the farrowing barn environment by overseeing ventilation, electronic feed systems, and watering systems.
- Monitor and assist sows during farrowing, ensuring optimal sow and piglet care and condition.
- Administer treatments and vaccinations for sows and piglets, promoting animal health and welfare.
- Cultivate quality wean piglets through diligent monitoring and oversight.
- Implement Day 1 Care protocols to ensure the well-being of newborn piglets.
- Create and maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to industry standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the farrowing team.
- Mentor and manage team members, emphasizing the importance of training, task assignments, and time management.
- Manage documentation requirements for the farrowing barn, including wean paperwork, farrowing record-keeping, and Pig Knows reporting.
- Hold team members accountable for farrowing activities, company policies, and key expectations.
