What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician/Assistant- Large Animal position at Countryside Veterinary Services?
Our large animal veterinary team is responsible for the care and treatment of all patients in the large animal hospital, as well as maintenance of the facilities. (Large animals consisting predominantly of horses, but also cattle, goats, sheep, and swine.) We are seeking a motivated full time or part time employee willing to serve our amazing team of veterinarians. Candidates must be reliable and willing to learn. Night shift will contain emergencies such as colic, choke, laceration, etc. There will also be more foalings happen on this shift than any other, so candidates must be observant to detail.
* THIS IS A NIGHT SHIFT POSITION*
-Must have experience in equine handling, feeding/watering, and cleaning stalls. This will be routine for every shift.
-Medical experience is preferred but will be willing to teach (medications, fluids, emergencies, charting, etc.)
-Must be detail-oriented and be able to learn very quickly.
-Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
-Ability to lift at least 50lb.
-Must be able to safely assist the veterinarian during emergencies and procedures.
-Efficiently communicate with doctors and other shifts.
