BASIC FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with design, survey, construction inspection and traffic services, under the direction of the Assistant Engineer and/or the Highway Technician(s) or Traffic Services Coordinator; performs other job-related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Uses Computer Aid Design and Drafting (CADD) to assist with the design and drafting of highway plans.
- Performs on the survey crew under the direction of the Survey Crew Chief.
- Assists with materials testing under the direction of the Project Inspector.
- Assists with quantity calculations.
- Assists Traffic Services with installation and implementation of traffic control devices.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school graduation or equivalent plus current enrollment in a Civil Technology Associate of Applied Science degree program or Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering program.
Certificates/Licenses Required:
- Valid drivers license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Required at Entry:
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to use hand tools (hammers, wrenches, etc.).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to drive a pickup truck.
