IMRF : Not eligible (works less than 1000 hours annually)
Hours : Work hours will vary based on the season but typically fall between the hours of 5 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m., unless otherwise scheduled. Some evenings, weekends, and holidays will be required depending on operational needs.
PAY : Grade 2 : $17.25-24.99; starting pay at base of range.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Golf Course Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of labor tasks related to the operations and maintenance of the Lake of the Woods Golf Course.
Supervisory Relationships
The Golf Course Maintenance Worker reports to the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The Golf Course Maintenance Worker may also be supervised during daily tasks by the Golf Course Superintendent. The position does not supervise other staff.
Essential Functions
- Maintain tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, fringes, and greens as well as all areas adjacent to the course.
- Mow and edge grass, remove weeds, prune trees and shrubs, and perform other landscaping tasks around the course and surrounding buildings as needed.
- Assist with the planting and cultivation of turf, plants, shrubs, trees, and other natural areas.
- Change cups; maintain tee boxes, flags, and poles; and replace / reposition rakes as needed. Ensure ball washing stations are ready for use.
- Inspect golf course grounds and facilities for hazards or unsafe conditions and report findings to supervisor.
- Service, operate, and maintain powered and non-powered equipment and tools.
- Participate in the operation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
- Maintain equipment (including the golf cart fleet) and maintenance facilities in clean, safe, and efficient working order.
- Assist patrons with questions or concerns regarding the golf course or other District facilities and programs.
- Explain and enforce District rules and regulations and notify the appropriate authority regarding safety issues.
- Perform all job tasks in compliance with the District's Safety Manual and the department training manual.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed outdoors under various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, or ice. Duties will be performed in close proximity to the general public and the employee may have frequent interactions with patrons. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to hazardous flora and fauna (e.g. poison ivy, wild parsnip, biting / stinging insects, ticks) and chemicals (e.g. cleaning supplies, herbicides / pesticides, and gasoline / oil). The employee may also be exposed to machinery with moving mechanical parts and high noise levels.
Normal duties may include stooping, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Prolonged standing or walking, often on unpaved / uneven terrain, will be frequent. The employee may regularly handle, grasp, or feel objects; reach, push, or pull to reposition items; and may regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds or may occasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds using assistive devices or with assistance from other employees. Ability to talk and hear or otherwise effectively communicate with staff and patrons is required. Visual acuity necessary for this position includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
