Responsible for providing administrative support and serving as the primary public contact for callers and/or visitors to various County offices; provides information to the public regarding County or departmental activities and functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Assists visitors and callers who may have significant problems or require specialized services or in situations where relations may be confrontational or strained.
- Determines the nature of the visit or the problem and explains detailed policies, procedures and regulations related to County services/functions; disseminates, explains and receives applications and printed materials related to various services/functions.
- Answers the telephone and emails; determines the nature of the inquiry; directs customers to the proper person or takes messages.
- Interviews individuals to obtain basic information; may determine eligibility for specified programs following specific guidelines.
- Provides factual information regarding the functions, activities, policies and procedures of the County.
- Performs a variety of basic office support duties such as collating materials, distributing incoming mail, preparing materials for mailing, completing forms, proofreading typed or printed materials, and/or composing correspondence, reports and other materials.
- Keeps apprised of office activities and functions so as to communicate this information to the public.
- May provide relief and assistance to other office support assignments.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED AND one (1) year of administrative support or customer service experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Computer applications related to the work.
- Basic business arithmetic.
- Basic record keeping practices.
- Standard office practices and procedures, including filing and the operation of standard office equipment.
