Senior Engineer Position
The Chesterfield County Government seeks a Senior Engineer to join the Development Section of the Department of Utilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing land development proposals and ensuring the orderly expansion of the county's water and wastewater systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review proposed developments' impacts on existing water and wastewater systems.
- Assess site and subdivision construction plans, zoning requests, and community development applications for compliance with county specifications and state/federal requirements.
- Evaluate water distribution and wastewater collection systems using field data and computer hydraulic modeling.
- Prepare and review reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and contracts.
- Interact with the public and collaborate with agencies, consulting firms, and internal/external customers.
- Host or attend meetings with presentations.
- Use GIS Mapping software to answer public inquiries and collect system data.
- Train to use Innovyze (Infowater) for hydraulic flow tests and respond to customer inquiries about extending or connecting to county water and wastewater systems.
- Perform other work as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field.
- Three years of professional engineering experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
