This position will be primarily responsible for the daily transportation of meals from the central kitchen, located in Richmond, to various childcare centers county-wide. They will assist in packaging, loading, transporting, and unloading food and supplies.
Positions in this classification are exempt from classified service and work in State and/or Federally funded project positions administered by Contra Costa County.

We are looking for someone who is:

- Driving a delivery van to transport meals and food supplies to childcare centers throughout Contra Costa County
- Loading and unloading meals and supplies.
- Keeping records of deliveries
- Packaging meals for delivery to several sites and ensuring modified meals for children with dietary restrictions are available
- Washing and disinfecting food containers
- Delivering department mail and other materials as required
- Maintaining vehicle in clean and orderly manner
- Keeping records of vehicle maintenance
- Cleaning refrigerators and other equipment
- You will be serving the community by providing highly nutritious meals for children
- You will be part of a highly collaborative and supportive team
- You will work in a Bureau that is focused on staff wellness and self-care
- Inclement weather during deliveries
- You may occasionally be asked to support alternative delivery routes
Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or high school proficiency certificate.
License Required: Candidates must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.
Experience: One (1) year of full time, or its equivalent, experience driving a vehicle for a professional service or agency.
Other Requirements: As required by law, all appointees must successfully pass fingerprint and tuberculosis clearance and a current physical examination.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Food Handler Certificate
- Experience in food preparation
- Experience in early childhood education
