The Maintenance Worker I classification customarily performs a variety of manual tasks as a member of a maintenance or clean-up crew Maintenance Worker I’s perform traffic control, move, and transport materials and debris, dig holes, and level and sweep dirt. They also load and unload trucks, trim trees, cut brushes, and move and install timbers and boards and other work as required. Maintenance Worker I’s are required to drive light trucks and operate a variety of hand-powered and pneumatic tools. They are required to follow safe working practices and procedures and wear proper protective equipment as required. They perform these work tasks in all weather conditions in connection with the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, buildings, flood control channels, and other structures. Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.Online Multiple Choice Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online multiple choice assessment. The multiple choice exam will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. These may include, but are not limited to: safety focus, professional integrity and ethics, teamwork, attention to detail, and reading comprehension (Weighted 100%).Departmental Hiring Interviews: To be scheduled once the eligible list is established.The Multiple Choice Assessment is tentatively scheduled to take place in late April 2025.
