Summary:
Responsible for participating as a member of the Education Teaching Team to promote active learning in the classroom by providing support and assistance in the classroom and on the playground to the Lead Teacher or Teacher Assistant assigned to the classroom.

Teacher/Teacher Assistant in assigned classroom.

A.Planning & Development
1. Assistance with the preparation of activities & experiences for all areas of a child’s development including physical, social, emotional, and cognitive
2. Assistance with the preparation of materials and physical environment
3. Assistance with development of individual child plans with appropriate goals and objectives for each child toward the achievement of CHSKCEHS/HS outcomes
4. Assistance with annual program Self-Assessment
B.Teaching/Classroom Activities
- Assist the Teacher with all classroom activities, field trips and outdoor activities
- Assist with the upkeep of educational materials and equipment
- Assist with maintaining attendance records, meal records, incident and accident reports, in-kind contributions, USDA tally sheets and child education files
- Assist with meals and preparation of snacks
- Supervise the classroom according to the plans of the teacher when the teacher is out of the room
- Assist the teacher with any aspect of the program as the need arises
- Assist with bus duty and/or transition daycare from CHSKCEHS/HS to Culpeper County Day Care as assigned
C.Supervision & Training
- Assist the Teacher with orienting and training assigned classroom volunteers
- Attend Education Staff Meetings and other meetings as requested; attend all required training and workshops
- Remain up to date on information pertaining to needs of children including CHSKCEHS/HS Performance Standards, child care licensing regulations and other applicable regulations and practices
- Actively seek to continuously update skills by attending outside workshops and conferences and pursuing additional educational opportunities
D.Parental/Family Involvement
- Assist the Teacher and Education/Disabilities Coordinator with materials relevant to informing parents and requesting their involvement
- Assist the Teacher in promoting parent involvement in the child’s education including home visits and parent/teacher conferences
- Assist the Teacher in sharing pertinent information with Family Support to ensure coordinated services that meet the needs of individual children and their families
- Knowledge of child growth and development
- Knowledge CHSKCEHS/HS Program Performance Standards
- Ability to plan, organize and supervise a preschool classroom
- Ability to work with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds and those with disabilities and special needs
- Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records accurately and in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate in the primary language of enrolled families highly desirable
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times including the ability to recognize situations in which confidentiality is required
Education & Experience
- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- Willing to actively work on and complete CDA Credential.
- Experience in a childcare setting
- Must have the ability to relate well to children, adults, parents, and other staff
- Preference for current and former CHSKCEHS/HS parents (qualified)
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- May be required to lift up to 45 pounds
- May be needed to provide gentle physical restraint to children
- Work generally performed in a classroom setting
- Noise level in work environment may be moderate to loud
- Sit on the floor and/or preschool chairs
- Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to maintain direct eye contact with children
Special Requirements
All applicants are subject to employment verification and reference checks, verification of education, a DMV/driving record check, Central Registry check and criminal history check to evaluate for barrier crimes as described in the Code of Virginia §63.2-1719.

Salary : $12
