About the Position

The work is performed under moderate supervision of the Senior Social Worker Supervisor, with limited supervision exercised over subordinate social workers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with children and families to assess needs and risk of harm.
- Identify needs, make referrals, and ensure delivery of medical, psychological, and educational care for children, placement families, and biological families to establish permanency for children.
- Gather and maintain accurate information in emotionally charged environments; maintain case files and prepare forms according to federal and state mandates.
- Prepare court reports and attorney packets; testify in court hearings.
- Work with families to create treatment plans; encourage families to work towards goals set out in these plans.
- Screen reports of child abuse, neglect, and dependency; assign cases to workers while serving as on-call supervisor and occasional daytime supervisor.
- Cover intake of community reports of child abuse, neglect, and dependency.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of social, economic, and health problems.
- Thorough knowledge of social institutions and methods of the helping process.
- Thorough knowledge of individual and group behavior.
- Ability to identify social problems and needs; assess ability of individuals and families to utilize services in problem-solving.
- Ability to plan and organize work; understand and interpret laws, policies, and regulations.
- Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility.
- Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, professionals, and the general public.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
- Considerable experience in social work or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Valid driver's license.
