Bi-weekly Salary: Medical Records Clerk I : $1,344.00 - $1,607.81Medical Records Clerk II : $1,405.20 - $1,682.20The Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a qualified candidate to fill one (1) vacancy for the position of Medical Records Clerk I/II. This position is classified as full-time.Under close supervision, supports health care professionals in providing access to a variety of behavioral health services to individuals, the community and other public agencies. This work consists of front line direct interaction with potential consumers, to technical work in the electronic health record system. Employees in this classification receive indirect supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.Maintains the confidential patient files for behavioral health clients according to formal medical records standards which includes checking records for conformance, retrieving forms and data, indexing, cross filing and monitoring of patient records.Interviews patients at a behavioral health clinic for the purpose of gathering biographic and economic information.Maintains manual and electronic filing system; files client charts, records, and other medical documentation, enters information into computer. Receives and tracks all referral to services. Prepares, reviews and maintains behavioral health charts for a variety of programs, coordinates release of records in accordance with established laws, rules and regulations regarding confidentiality. Performs receptionist duties when assigned, including answering telephones, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, providing information, etc.Performs routine clerical duties such as filing, duplicating documents, answering telephones, confirming appointments, and compiling correspondence.Inventories supplies and materials, prepares supply orders, maintains and distributes supplies. Types a variety of documents where knowledge of format and presentation are vital.Reviews documents, records, letter and reports for accuracy, completeness and conformity to established guidelines.May operate a computer terminal, word processing equipment and a variety of office related machines.Attends meetings, workshops and training seminars as required.Assists in development of participation in the quality assurance program pertaining to medical records related activities.Performs related duties as required.
