The Harm Reduction Coordinator works under the direction of the Population Health Administrator to promote, maintain, and improve harm reduction and de-stigmatization by developing, coordinating, conducting, and overseeing life-saving training and interventions and disseminating harm reduction materials for individuals and communities. The goal is to adopt stigma-free beliefs and practices and increase knowledge of life-saving techniques. This is a non-supervisory position. 
  • Develop, oversee, and coordinate harm reduction program initiatives following best practices and evidence-based approaches
  • Collaborate with local organizations, government agencies, and community partners to advocate for harm reduction policies and resources
  • Build and maintain relationships and implement strategies with community-based organizations willing to participate in the reduction of harm and decrease stigma throughout Delaware County
  • Develop and implement a work plan to address goals, objectives, and strategies for disseminating harm reduction materials and conducting life-saving trainings identified through DCHD, and monitor progress
  • Prepare, conduct, and oversee life-saving training such as BLS CPR, Stop the Bleed®, and naloxone training to schools, organizations, businesses, faith-based entities, and individuals throughout Delaware County
  • Order, prepare, and disseminate harm reduction and anti-stigma materials such as overdose prevention kits, naloxone, and educational materials that are accurate, evidence-based, and culturally competent including, but not limited to flyers, brochures, press releases, and social media postings
  • Track, order, and maintain harm reduction materials and training supplies inventory
  • Gather, organize, interpret, and maintain data for program monitoring, reporting, evaluation, and improvement
  • Report data to state entities as required
  • Maintain requirements to renew instructor certifications as necessary
  • Serve on coalitions, committees, and task forces as requested
  • Attend trainings, courses, seminars, and conferences, as approved by Health Department Director or designee, to maintain knowledge of current trends and to develop skills necessary to assure duties are performed satisfactorily
  • Coordinate activities of Harm Reduction Community Health Worker
  • Report to Population Health Manager
  • Other duties as assigned, including support for other Population Health Division priorities as needed.

*The selected candidate will be required to obtain, at their own expense, 3 forms of clearance, including PA State Police Criminal History Record Check; PA Child Abuse History; and FBI Criminal History Background Check including finger printing prior to employment.
