What are the responsibilities and job description for the SHERIFF'S OFFICE - SOCIAL WORKER (MASTER'S) position at County of El Paso?
Acceptable Experience and Education- depending on area assigned:
Sheriff's Office:
Master's degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited university or college with at least five (5) years full time experience in Social Work, with one (1) year in a crisis management setting and case management experience, to include victim rights and trauma informed care;
Certificates and Licenses Required
Must have or obtain by date of hire a valid driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso;
Licensed as Master Social Worker in the State of Texas -LMSWEssential Duties
Conducts court ordered case evaluations, relocation evaluations, updated case evaluations, court order classes to aid the clients in understanding court orders, access facilitation for families experiencing conflict with access and possession, and home visits when indicated;
Provides testimony to the Court;
Provides social services as a mental health professional who functions as an impartial examiner;
Conducts interviews with parties to the suit in person or telephone; assesses family dynamics; assesses
mental health and substance abuse issues; documents activities;
Conducts out of town home visits to include every state in the United States when required by the Court;
Assists with office policy and procedures by providing input to ensure policies and procedures are in compliance with state mandates;
Coordinates and communicates with social service agencies; identifies and refers to appropriate agencies;
Coordinates with enforcement division in achieving compliance with court orders;
Performs intake screenings, impromptu access facilitation/mediation, interviews clients or witnesses for the court; submits reports to the court; and status reports;
Gathers and evaluates statistical data and program results; develops program assessment instruments; maintains program documentation;
Works with clients to access health care, psychiatric, and other services when necessary;
Works with families to cope with the stresses created by the client's legal matters; facilitates families' understanding of the legal system;
Assesses mental state of the parties to the suit in order to assist the Court in exploring mental health issues;
Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts; and
Creates a high quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills.
Summary of Position
The Social Worker Master's under general supervision provides professional level social services within a particular County department. The incumbent assists assigned department by providing an alternative dispute resolution service through ongoing, intensive case management to high conflict court cases.

As members of the County of El Paso Emergency Response System, all El Paso County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to train on emergency response and/or perform certain emergency services at the direction of their supervisor.

Other: Has frequent contact with other county employees, law enforcement personnel, parties to the suit, families, personal references of the parties, Child Protective Services, other public agencies, schools and the general public
