What are the responsibilities and job description for the COURT ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST position at County of Greenville?
Interpret and process judges' order pertaining to court cases for an assigned department; receives payments for various fines/fees/assessments/court costs/child or alimony support, fees/services; records cash, check or credit card receipts; balances receipts; prepares and balances daily deposit and credit card payments; posts payments and adjustments to court case accounts; reconciles bank accounts; research checks received without identifying information; and prepares related reports and record, transfers, and adjustments; responds to requests for account information; and runs and submits related reports for disbursement of funds pursuant S.C. Code of Laws and the fee Memorandum from the South Carolina Supreme Court, Court Administration Instructions; prepares month end reports to disburse funds collected for the previous month and forward the report to the County Treasurer. Performs customer service functions; answers telephone calls, greets visitors, and assists individuals; provides information/assistance regarding department services, activities, procedures, documentation, fees, or other issues; distributes, processes, and/or assists customers with completion of various forms/documentation; and responds to routine questions/complaints and initiates problem resolution. Coordinate accounting functions and programs; prepare financial analyses and reports; assist with analyses reports; assist with annual audit preparations; investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies and issues of non-compliance; evaluate workflow processes and procedures to develop, recommend and implement procedural and system changes to increase accuracy and efficiencies; support month-end and year-end processes. Performs other related duties as required. Associate's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; proven knowledge, skills, and abilities to handle cash and a variety of administrative/accounting activities for Circuit Court. Must have the ability to learn the laws, rules and regulations governing the court system with regards to the Accounting Department. Must have excellent customer service skills and able to work in a team environment; ability to read and interpret complex legal documents and court orders will be helpful. Must be able to adhere to a strict rule of confidentiality. Must have a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
