General Statement of Duties

Helps manage website content and is administrator for events content management system for the Henrico County Public Library system. Supports the Web Development Coordinator for public-facing website and internal Intranet. Provides software and website support to library staff and patrons; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
Henrico County Public Library seeks a Department Technology Specialist III for the responsibilities of a Web and Events Content Specialist.The position’s primary duty is to manage the Library events content management system through Springshare software and its LibCal and LibAnswers applications. Springshare is the program the Library uses to list and promote more than 150 events per month and to manage space reservations in its nine library locations.
In addition to overseeing the events content management system, the position will:
Support the Web Development Coordinator- Help maintain the Library website, making updates, proofing and editing, and creating content as needed
- Ensure the Library’s website meets accessibility standards and incorporate best practices for overall user experience
- Manage the Library Intranet, assisting Library departments in posting updates and maintaining internal documents
- Coordinate training for newly adopted library technologies
- Occasionally assist with Library sponsored events
- Manage the Library Public Relations Department’s image assets
- Be part of a team contributing content for the website, blog, and social media
The person in this position must:
Be highly organized with an attention to detail, including proofreading- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Provide excellent and responsive customer service to internal and external audiences
- Be a diligent problem-solver who takes initiative and uses good judgment
- Work collaboratively with a team
- Be able to explain complex technologies in easy-to-understand language
- Possess presentation skills and have experience training for a variety of audiences
- A knowledge of and interest in public library services, technologies, and trends is a plus
This position requires a knowledge of web development and digital technologies as related to web design. This includes experience with HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. Specifically, the position requires experience with:
Open-Source Content Management Systems, such as Joomla and WordPress
Reports to the Division Manager, Communications and Media

This is a 40 hours/week position.
The expected hiring range will be at the lower end of the listed pay scale.
