General Statement of Duties

Essential Duties
Incumbent will be responsible for screening individuals committed to jail for possible participation in the Behavioral Health Docket. Responsible for providing comprehensive Needs Assessments, Columbia, ASAM (when appropriate) and Columbia; formulates diagnoses and treatment recommendations with adults; assesses the nexus between the SMI and criminal offense; serve as liaison between the court and the jail in all cases involving the BHD and provide updates to the court on individual progress. Provide clinical, case management, and crisis intervention services to include oversight of clinical treatment and services, establishing linkages and treatment referrals, monitoring and coordinating community resources; supporting all participants, and assisting with applications for entitlements as needed; provides reports and treatment recommendations to the Docket Team. Coordinates with the Jail, Mental Health, and Jail Medical team to ensure medical and mental health care is managed while the individual is incarcerated.
Considerable knowledge of principles of community mental health and/or intellectual disabilities and/or substance abuse; considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a two (2)-year master's degree in clinical social work, psychology or a directly related field plus one (1) year of experience in a mental health setting [for a one-year degree, one(1) additional year of experience or an internship is required to replace the second year of formal training]; OR, a bachelor's degree in related field plus four (4) years of experience in a community mental health setting; OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Information
A professional license or license eligible is required LPC, LCSW, or LMFT. Pre-Screening certification preferred. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by Commonwealth of Virginia, Child Protective Services Check and TB Screening, required if offered employment.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
Expected salary low to mid-range of the listed salary scale.
Position eligible to participate in a Career Development Plan which allows individual to advance within current position.
