DEPUTY COURT CLERK SENIOR CIRCUIT COURT   Kenosha County is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, and customer service focused person to join the Circuit Court staff as a Deputy Court Clerk Senior.  The selected candidate will join a team committed to continuous learning and supporting the fast-paced court operations of Kenosha County.   Circuit Court will provide formal and informal training for this position, including software training on technologies, internal training on Circuit Court procedures, and mentoring in learning the requirements of the position.   The selected candidate will enjoy a highly sought-after work/life balance with weekends and 12 County-recognized holidays off, and a work schedule of Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.   Join our team and help make a difference in Kenosha County!   Kenosha County is committed to Diversity, Belonging and Inclusion and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.   2025 Hiring Range:  $23.43 - $26.62 per hour   Position Summary and Job Duties The Deputy Court Clerk Senior performs technical work and provides clerical support for the operations of the court, working under the direction of the Clerk of Circuit Court and assigned supervisor.  Deputy Court Clerks must provide outstanding customer service during stressful situations; be able to manage workload and meet statutory timelines; have impeccable attention to detail in all assigned work; and be comfortable interacting with judges, attorneys, and executive level management on a daily basis.  This position is assigned in all areas of the Clerk of Circuit Court office, including juvenile, guardianships, mental commitments, probate and financial. Ancillary case duties may involve family, civil, and criminal records.   Deputy Court Clerks are expected to learn all functions of the position, which include but are not limited to: timely and accurate filing, docketing, and scanning documents to juvenile, guardianship, mental commitments, probate, criminal, civil, traffic, small claims, family, and paternity matters; processing payments and issuing receipts; docketing and release of civil judgments; appointing Guardians ad Litem in accordance with procedures; providing excellent customer service; managing and correctly recording courtroom proceedings and minute entries; correctly completing accounting and data entry duties, including docketing and release of civil judgments; case management; learning and applying legal terminology; preparing documents; following procedures in addition to general clerical competencies; maintaining electronic court files; and preparing warrants, subpoenas, and calendars.   Ensures all court documents are prepared accurately and distributed on a timely basis Provides in-court deputy clerk duties as needed Adheres to Model Court Recordkeeping procedures in maintenance of court files, including docketing, scanning and integrity checking of court documents Processes payments, issues receipts, calculates interest, initiates and reviews litigant payment plans Dockets and releases civil judgment as necessary Reviews caseload for other action items Enters warrants into required court databases Reviews financial reports for accuracy for reporting to collection agencies and acts as liaison Reviews case files for financial information regarding billing and payment of certain court costs and fees Provides support to other deputy clerks in unit, including phone and counter reception Serves as liaison to other departments, law enforcement, litigants, service providers, and other involved parties Prepares correspondence, warrants, bonds, notices, and similar documents Develops and maintains court calendars Prepares and assembles legal documents, articles, exhibits, reports, statements, evidence, and other materials Prepares minutes Explains court procedures, processes, rules, and requirements without providing legal advice Schedules hearings and other meetings Performs other duties as assigned   Success Factors Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and documents and information needed for court proceedings Knowledge of math calculations, including interest calculations and routine balancing Skill in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another Ability to handle multiple procedural processes simultaneously Ability to provide quality customer service and remain professional and courteous at all times to internal and external court users Ability to work independently to follow schedules and meet deadlines Communication skills both verbally and in writing, with the ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to maintain confidential information Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including a computer, calculator, scanner, telephone, and fax machine Ability to work respectfully in a diverse and inclusive environment   Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience Associate Degree in legal studies, accounting, or related field Two years of work experience in a legal or court environment or financial setting Or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job Ability to work overtime as required Ability to become a Notary Public   Benefits Health, dental and vision insurance effective first of month following 30 days of employment with the ability to reduce premium contribution through participation in a wellness program Flexible Spending Accounts Employee Assistance Program Paid Time Off Volunteer Paid Time Off Twelve Paid Holidays Retirement Plan:  Participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System which includes county-paid life insurance Tuition Reimbursement   Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
