Performs a wide variety of legal duties in the Specialty Court Programs under the general supervision of the Trial Court Administrator; Coordination of docket and staffing for court review hearings, Direct supervision of the specialty court participants' compliance with programming, including implementation of the appropriate supervision level based on established measures, providing community linkages and referrals to appropriate agencies, and monitoring the day-to-day activities of the participants.

Essential Functions

1. Completes orientations and compliance checks with participants.

2. Reviews client referral information to determine if program eligibility criteria are met.

3. Investigates and summarizes the facts of potential pending cases.

4. Maintains files as necessary for clients in the program.

5. Analyzes program reports and provides results to appropriate staff.

6. Performs legal research and follow up as required.

7. Research and prepare grant applications and reports.

8. Prepare and maintain program budget.

9. Monitor clients and supervision of case in conjunction with MDOC and treatment providers.

10.Meet with clients regularly following specialty court supervisions standards.

11.Acts as a liaison to connect clients with needs, supports, or other ancillary services.

12.Makes recommendations on phase promotion, graduation requirements, sanctions, incentives, terminations, etc.

13.Works closely with program judges and staff involved in the specialty court programs.

14.Assists with general office duties.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, social work, psychology, human services, public health, corrections, public administration, court administration, or related field.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a legal setting required, with experience in specialty courts preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of substance use and mental health.
  • Knowledge of DCCMIS and inputting data.
  • Knowledge of MATCP and SCAO guidelines and requirements for specialty court programs.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations and policies.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of specialty court programs and related community services and agencies.
  • Knowledge of the judicial process.
  • Knowledge of legal research methods.
  • Knowledge of the preparation and filing of court documents.
  • Ability to maintain necessary records.
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate at a high level, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
  • Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Ability to perform work independently, collaboratively, and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,049.36 - $71,409.60 per year
