The Office of the County Executive are seeking four summer interns to support the office’s efforts in Management & Budget, Communications, Legislative Affairs and supporting public participation.
The Marin County Executive's Office is responsible for implementing Board of Supervisors' policies, preparing the County budget, and providing critical information to support decision-making processes. The office encompasses several divisions, including Management and Budget, Communications, and Legislative Affairs, all working collaboratively to serve the residents of Marin County. The Office is hiring summer interns for four divisions:
- Management and Budget Intern: The Budget intern will support the Analyst team in reviewing Departmental budgets, financial policies and contribute to projects that promote transparency and equity in County budgeting. Interns will work alongside experienced analysts to prepare reports and presentations, conduct research, review budget requests, and support engagement on the County budget.
- Public Communications Intern: The Communications intern will support the County’s public information and media relations work. This includes creating content for the County’s website, newsletters, and social media channels and assisting in news releases – focusing on strategies that promote transparency and community engagement. The intern will gain hands-on experience in government communications and public outreach.
- Legislative Policy Intern: The Legislative intern will assist with analyzing state and federal policies and legislation under the County’s advocacy efforts. Interns will help research and draft policy position letters related to health and human services, housing, flood control, transportation, and other priority areas. The internship will focus on policy analysis, legislative processes, and professional writing in a government setting
- Clerk of the Board Intern: The Clerk of the Board intern will assist with administrative support for the office, which supports the Board of Supervisors. Interns will help prepare meeting agendas, organize official records, assist with public noticing requirements, and support the County’s efforts to promote public participation and transparency. This is a valuable opportunity to learn how local government meetings are structured, how public records are managed, and how citizens engage with local governing bodies.
The internship will be 20-30 hours per week and last 10-12 weeks beginning in June. The position may be remote 1-2 days per week and is otherwise onsite at the Civic Center.
Applicants must be in the process of earning an undergraduate or graduate degree; or must have graduated within the past 12 months. Successful candidates will have strong writing and analytical skills, attention to detail, an interest in local government, and a strong interest in the relevant division and local government and Marin County.See flyer
