Application Review Date: 2/14/2025The duties of the Seasonal Maintenance Worker are to assist the Parks Maintenance II, III and IV positions in their daily job functions. Seasonal maintenance workers perform unskilled and semi-skilled labor related to the maintenance and operations of park areas, facilities and structures. Assignments are of a temporary and/or seasonal nature.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The specific duties and responsibilities of the Seasonal Maintenance Worker include, but are not limited to: Assist in the performance of routine maintenance including pick-up and proper disposal of litter, garbage, and debris in building facilities, parks and grounds areas.Clean and sanitize public restroom facilities and equipment as needed in accordance with the standards of cleanliness and safety.Assist in the cultivation, pruning, spraying and trimming of plants, trees, shrubs and the mowing of turf areas to include ballfields and the preparation of ballfield infields for daily ball playing.Operate push and riding type mowers and other turf and/or maintenance equipment as necessary.Assist on capital improvement projects and perform related duties with supervision as required.Knowledge of: Mason County Park systemMason County buildings and facilitiesBasic building maintenanceProper landscaping and grounds keeping proceduresRecreation programs and associated maintenance requirementsBallfield configuration and requirements for different levels of playAbility to: Work within established guidelines with limited supervisionAccomplish tasks within a designated time frameEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees and the general publicCarry out oral and written instructions with minimal supervisionPerform tasks involving physical strength and endurance to withstand exposure to variable weather conditionsPerform repetitive heavy lifting to load or off-load trucksUse power and non-power tools safely

Working ConditionsWork is performed in County facilities and grounds in all types of weather and requires the employee to be able to walk, stand, climb, bend and reach on a regular basis. Employees in this classification are required to use standard hand and power tools and equipment. Incumbents in this classification may be required to lift more than fifty (50) pounds on a regular basis.Preferred QualificationsDESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Experience in performing manual labor Previous parks or facility maintenance experience
