What are the responsibilities and job description for the TEMPORARY ELECTION CLERK (SR-09) position at County Of Maui?
Duties Summary:
Performs duties specific to the election process, including: typing, filing, responding to questions from the public about voting or the election, assisting with voter registration and helping with candidate filings, etc.
Note: This is a full time, temporary position with the possibility of employment through the entire election season (12/31/2024).
Employment may be terminated at any time due to failure to perform required job duties.
Examples of Duties (not all inclusive):
- Registering voters, updating, maintaining, and preparing the general county register.
- Reviewing applications related to voter registration to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Assisting in providing information and assistance to the public on voter registration and the elections.
- Assisting with the vote-by-mail process.
- Assisting in recruiting and training voter service center officials.
- Assisting candidates for office with nomination papers and campaign spending forms.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others. General clerical skills (i.e., filing, answering phones, assisting the public, etc.), knowledge of word processing programs, ability to type are required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to do some heavy lifting is required. Attire must be appropriate for an office setting.
Travel
May be required to travel by ferry or small plane to Molokai and/or Lanai.
General Information
Office hours – 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Sick leave – 14 hours a month
Vacation leave – 14 hours a month
Rate of pay - $2,816.00 per month salary ($16.25 per hour)
Overtime – compensation is at the rate of 1½ times the hourly rate of pay

Tools and Equipment Regularly Operated
