INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
GRADE: A04
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The purpose of this classification is to serve as a member of the Information Technology
department and to support Morgan County’s technology solutions by helping end users
with technology to allow them to better perform their jobs.
REPORTS TO: IT Systems Administrator, Captain of Investigations, Chief, Sheriff
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

• Diagnoses and resolves problems in response to user reported incidents.
• Configures and installs various hardware, software and maintains existing
components; prepares/ installs cabling.
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues with computer systems and peripheral
equipment located throughout the organization.
• Document and help to enforce various policies, procedures, standards, best
practices, and configurations.
• Initiates communication with computer service representatives; provides
information concerning operational and/or mechanical problems.
• Manages and implements passwords for security purposes in accordance with
policy.
• Maintains departmental records as required.
• Performs customer service functions in person and via telephone, providing
information and assistance to the public, employees, officials, or other individuals;
responds to complaints, questions, and requests for assistance, to include
researching problems.
• Maintains a comprehensive working knowledge of new trends, advances,
applicable laws/regulations, and developments in technology as need to preform essential job requirements; attends workshops, conferences, and training sessions as appropriate.
• Maintains confidentiality and professional integrity in involvement with departmental issues.
• Must have the ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Must be willing to work rotating weekends for on-call needs.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• One to five years of experience in a computer support role or a related field is preferred or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
