Join us as an Attorney I and make a difference in the community. You will help provide outstanding legal representation and advice to County departments, employees, special districts, and the Board of Supervisors. This role is critical in maintaining the lawfulness of our local government. As a County of Nevada Civil Attorney, outstanding legal skills will be crucial in handling a wide array of legal matters.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and representation to County departments, employees, special districts, and the Board of Supervisors.
- Research, interpret, and apply laws, court decisions, and other legal authorities in the preparation of opinions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Represent the County in civil litigation, including pre-trial, trial, and appellate work.
- Advise on a variety of legal matters, including but not limited to employment law, public contracts, land use, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with colleagues and collaborators to successfully implement legal strategies and solutions.
- Conduct detailed legal research and analysis to support County initiatives and resolve legal issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of County policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.

Education and Experience Required
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited law school. One year of experience practicing civil law is preferred but not required.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid California driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Active membership with the California State Bar in good standing.
