2.5% OF BASE PAY FOR OBTAINING AND MAINTAINING a VALID CALIFORNIA CLASS A or B DRIVER'S LICENSE.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time, regular and limited-term positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.
Interviews for selected candidates will be held on February 14, 2025.
Knowledge of:
- Safe, defensive driving practices
- California Motor Vehicle Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in public transportation
- Basic maintenance of transit vehicles and related equipment
- California Commercial Driver Handbook
- Operating a transit vehicle safely
- Maintaining order among passengers on a bus
- Good customer service skills
- Understanding and implementing verbal and written instructions
- Proper use of two-way radio system
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those in the course of work

Recruitment incentives of up to $5K paid over a 1-year period (either new or lateral hires). The recruitment incentive is paid in two parts, half upon hire and the remainder paid upon completion of a 12-month probation period.

- Completion of twelfth grade or receipt of G.E.D.
- Minimum of six months of driving experience in one or more of the following: public transit, a school district transit operation, or driving a commercial vehicle.
- Passenger Endorsement Certificate permitting the licensee to operate public transit vehicles equipped with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 26,001 pounds or more.
- California Class A or B Vehicle Operator’s License
- Department of Motor Vehicles Medical Certificate/DL-51
- Vehicle Transit Training (VTT) Certificate required within three months of hire
- Passenger transit driving experience preferred
- Possession of current and valid Certification for Operation of a School Bus is highly desirable
- Possession of current and valid Certification for the operation of airbrakes is beneficial, but not required.
Salary : $46,565 - $56,846
