Job Summary
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Building Inspector I to join our team at the County of Oconee. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and ordinances, providing expert guidance to various stakeholders, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Accountabilities:
- Inspect residential building construction, renovations, and mobile home installations to ensure compliance with building codes and ordinances.
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, engineers, architects, developers, property owners, and other stakeholders to provide clear guidance and interpretation of building codes and regulations.
- Prepare and issue reports, notices, and stop work orders as necessary to facilitate compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- One (1) year of experience in building inspection or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Certification as a Residential Building Inspector within 12 months of hire, with annual additional certifications.
