What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Treasurer I - Part Time position at County of Orange, VA?
Role Overview
This part-time role will support the Treasurer's office by collecting tax payments and posting payments to accounts, issuing dog tags, entering data, assisting the public and related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Treasurer.
The ideal candidate can expect to work 20-25 hours per week on average in this role. During busier seasons, the candidate can expect to work upwards of 30-35 hours per week.
Role Description
- Answers incoming calls; provides billing information; refers inquiries to personnel; makes calls regarding delinquent bills.
- Assists taxpayers at window with billing questions and County policies; collects taxes; issues dog tags, etc.
- Data entry on rabies certificates received from local veterinarian offices,
- Generate notices to taxpayers on purchasing Dog Tags.
- Opens and secures cash drawer; works with deposits from County departments; processes mail payments; balances cash drawer daily.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Some knowledge of the principles, methods and practices of accounting; some knowledge of office practices; ability to operate standard office, word processing and data entry equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED with training as indicated below in the Special Requirements section and moderate experience in administrative work or cash handling or equivalent combination of education and experience.
