Description
This position will support the Maintenance Departments road and bridge maintenance program and may occasionally complete road and bridge surveys and construction inspections.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Operates all equipment in a safe manner at all times, following all approved safety procedures to avoid accidents or property damage.
- Mowing along County Roads using farm implements.
- Assisting with the installation and replacement of highway culverts.
- Assist crews with chip sealing, bituminous patching, and crack-filling operations.
- Assist with sign installation.
- Performing duties of a flagger to safely move traffic through highway construction zones.
- Weed and brush control including weed spraying along county-wide roadsides.
- Clean and maintain equipment on a daily basis.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other work-related duties as required.
- Painting exterior/interior of shops as required.
- Road and bridge construction project inspection support as required.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Class D Drivers License.
EDUCATION
A high school diploma or equivalent. Three months prior experience in construction work (classroom, employment, or personal) is preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Must possess the following skills and abilities:
- Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to effectively and safely perform various highway maintenance activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with others.
- Ability to operate large mowers safely and effectively.
- Be able to maintain prompt, predictable, and reliable attendance.
- Must possess a valid MN Drivers License and must be at least 18 years of age.
