What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS Analyst position at County of Riverside?
Riverside County Information Technology (RCIT) is seeking a GIS Analyst. The position will be based in Riverside, CA.
The GIS Analyst will be responsible for creating ArcGIS Online applications, publishing map services, developing web maps and focused web applications to support departmental lines of business. The incumbent will also assist with data maintenance and distribution. The GIS Analyst will perform other duties as assigned, such as providing customer service and assigning County addresses.
Competitive candidates will possess experience in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS platform, ability to work within ArcGIS Enterprise environment, proficient with Microsoft Office suite, and proficient in data manipulation. Successful candidates will also have experience in processing large data sets in geodatabase format and others related to spatial data.
Additionally, candidates will have programing skills such as Python, JavaScript, VertiGIS, Structured Query Language (SQL), VB script, HTML5 and web content management tools.
At this time, the position has the opportunity to telework based on business need, however job expectations, at times may require in person interaction. Telework may change at any time and you will be expected to report to the office.

• Perform quality control processes on GIS and attribute information.
• Consult with end users, clients, and customers to determine GIS and system information needs.
• Work with customers at all organizational levels in project development; develop project work plans/schedules and monitor project resources including staff time, vendor work, and budget targets.
• Prepare technical documentation including data specifications, user requirements, and procedures.
• Create cartographic and other products using GIS software, relational and object databases utilizing plotters, printers, digitizers, scanners, and internet applications.
• Operate a variety of GIS software including Oracle, Informax, Windows Professional, and ARC Info.
• Provide public information and assistance to a variety of internal and external customers of GIS products and services.
• Maintain, update, and develop information attributes and spatial layers.
Education: None required.
Experience: Four years of sub-professional or professional GIS experience. (Completion of GIS, automated mapping, land surveying, geography, cartography, or computer science related coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to two years of the required experience on the basis of 30 semester or 45 quarter units equaling one year of experience.)
OPTION II
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in computer science, geography, cartography, or a closely related field to the assignment.
Experience: None required.
ALL OPTIONS
Knowledge of: Geography, geographic information systems, mathematics, including the principles of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics as applied to GIS related work; automated drafting techniques; map design and cartography; survey principles and methods.
Ability to: Apply techniques and practices involved to complete assigned GIS work and projects; perform mathematical computations; tabulate and analyze data and prepare reports and maps; read and interpret legal descriptions, engineering drawings, survey notes, and tract descriptions; keep clear and accurate notes; do simple drafting; understand and follow oral and written directions; work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements
License: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License may be required.
A successful Security Clearance conducted by the Sheriffs' Department is required for positions within the Riverside County Information Technology Department.
