Account Clerk Specialists perform the more difficult and complex clerical accounting tasks and serve as lead to subordinate staff performing clerical accounting duties. Duties include:
- Compiles and records financial transactions.
- Codes costs to proper distribution according to predetermined functional and organizational classifications.
- Explains financial and assessment procedures and accounting requirements to employees and the public.
- Audits budgetary classification of expenditure documents.
- Assists in the preparation of periodic reports.
- Prepares and maintains redemption tax records.
- Gathers statistical data and prepares worksheets for budget estimates.
- Prepares the pre-audit report of public funds for payment and warrant preparation.
- Audits and distributes receipts and revenues to proper accounts.
- Reviews and processes claims and invoices from contractors, suppliers, and/or service providers for payment.
- Maintains accounts receivable subsidiary ledgers.
- Utilizes data processing printouts and personal computers to perform clerical accounting duties.
- Track and reconcile fixed asset and minor equipment inventory.
- Two (2) years as an Account Clerk within the County of San Diego; OR,
- Three (3) years or more of work experience performing responsible clerical accounting work, bookkeeping, fiscal, or statistical assignments; OR,
- Completion of twelve (12) semester units from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in accounting; AND one (1) year of experience performing responsible clerical accounting work, bookkeeping, fiscal or statistical assignments.
