Principal Administrative Analyst is a management classification responsible for budget preparation, fiscal management, and/or special projects and studies. Principal Administrative Analysts supervise a group of Administrative Analysts and assist higher level management in establishing and implementing organizational policies and procedures for department operations. IDEAL CANDIDATE
Analytical Thinking: Able to develop and contribute to the department's strategic position based on an analysis of the industry and the department's strengths, challenges, and current and potential capabilities. Able to communicate appropriately to subordinates so that they understand how their areas of responsibility contribute to achieving departmental goals.
Persuasive Communication: Demonstrates the ability to plan and deliver oral and written communications to create a desired impact and who can anticipate the implications of decisions for various stakeholders in the organization.
Supervisory Experience: Prior supervisory experience, which includes creating a high performance work environment; empowering team members to achieve goals by providing resources, training, responsibility and authority; and the ability to address individual needs and deal with performance issues directly.
HIRING PROCESS AND TIMELINE:
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.
- Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, AND, five (5) years of professional journey level experience in at least one of the following areas: general administration, budget/fiscal, or contract management/administration. At least one (1) year of the experience listed above must have included providing full supervision over staff; OR,
2. Nine (9) years of professional journey level experience in at least one of the following areas: general administration, budget/fiscal, or contract management/administration. At least one (1) year of the experience listed above must have included providing full supervision over staff.
Note: A master's degree from an accredited U. S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience. The one year of full supervisory experience cannot be substituted.
Education and work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. In order for education to substitute for work experience as indicated above, college level coursework must demonstrate progress toward a related degree as stated above.
Current County of San Diego employees may determine if their County of San Diego work experience is at the professional level by reviewing the Class Characteristics under the Job Descriptions and Salaries page of the County's website. If you are using your experience in a County of San Diego classification to meet the minimum requirements and it is not considered a professional class under the Class Characteristics, your application will be rejected.
