We are seeking a skilled and reliable Building Technician to perform a variety of maintenance tasks at our Detention Facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the preservation, functionality, and overall upkeep of five facility locations. The Building Technician must be a thorough professional with a practical mindset and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently while adhering to all health and safety guidelines. Primary responsibilities include maintenance of lighting, cell doors, security features, plumbing, electrical systems, landscaping, and general facility repairs.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform maintenance and repairs in carpentry, roofing, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, painting, and other building systems.
- Inspect and repair mechanical systems to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of ventilation, refrigeration, and related systems.
- Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure operational efficiency.
- Oversee the full-service laundry and kitchen areas, supervising inmate trustees as needed.
- Conduct maintenance on industrial food preparation and commercial equipment.
- Perform manual repairs such as fixing locks and replacing windows.
- Conduct general upkeep procedures, including landscaping, painting, and carpentry tasks.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a secure and hazard-free work environment.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in inmate house areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation purposes.
- Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Basic knowledge of equipment repair and operation.
- Punctual and reliable attendance demonstrated in previous employment.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow instructions, guidelines, and safety procedures.
- Previous maintenance experience preferred.
- Must pass a drug screening and background check.
