Under general supervision, to perform a variety of general cleaning, janitorial work and routine duties in the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and maintenance duties; and to perform other duties as required.

(The following is used as a partial description and is not restrictive as to duties required.)Performs a variety of cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors; cleans and vacuums rugs and carpets; cleans hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and offices; cleans ceilings, walls, blinds, and light fixtures; empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans and disinfects restrooms; replenishes supplies; may wash windows; may move and arrange furniture and equipment; turns out lights and locks doors and windows; replaces light bulbs and tubes; operates scrubbers, buffers, waxers and other equipment and machinery; requisitions supplies as needed; replaces florescent and incandescent lamps; cleans lighting fixtures and reflectors; moves and relocates office furniture and equipment; performs minor tasks in carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing work in addition to grounds maintenance work; may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Under California law, all public employees are Disaster Service Workers and may be called upon in the event of a disaster. The roles and responsibilities for Disaster Service Workers are authorized by the California Emergency Services Act and are defined in the California Government Code 3100-3102; Labor Code 3211.92(b).
