Christmas Magic Part-time Seasonal Employee
POSITION SUMMARY
Each year, York County Parks’ employs part-time, seasonal positions to assist full-time staff with Christmas Magic. Christmas Magic is a spectacular walk-through light show. This memorable 40 -year tradition attracts over 40,000 visitors each year from PA and surrounding states. Positions are available for setting up lights and props from mid-August until the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and/or working evenings of the show from the day after Thanksgiving through December 30th. Hours are flexible.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Good listening skills with attention to detail
- Must be at least 18 years of age to help set-up the displays
- Must be at least 16 years of age or to work the event
- Set-up employees must be comfortable working outside in various weather conditions (rain, snow, hot, cold, etc.)
- Event employees must be comfortable with cold weather
- Set-up employees must be comfortable using a ladder
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working as part of a team to assist with set-up for ‘Christmas Magic - A Festival of Lights’ in the months leading up to the event (August – November, daytime)
- Stringing lights on trees, shrubs, and fencing
- Decorating pavilions
- Placing props in ground
- Fence Painting
- Working the admissions booth during Christmas Magic (November – December, evenings)
- Interacting with the public
- Scanning tickets and operating a cash register
- Being a trail walker during Christmas Magic (November – December, evenings)
- Walking the path during the event to ensure operations are running smoothly
- Being a welcoming face for visitors, other staff, and volunteers
- Helping patrons during the event
- Picking up litter and addressing other issues that may arise
- Giving directions and assistance to admission booth staff and food stand volunteers
Time Period: Mid-August – December 30th. The position is approved for only that calendar year & subject to normal hiring practices, usually during summer months, with potential for renewal into the next year.
Position hours will not exceed 999 per year.
Work Sites: Rocky Ridge County Park.
