Job Title:Maintenance Worker

Reports To: Lead Engineer

Summary

Responsible for the overall maintenance of the hotel public areas and guest rooms, as well as providing transportation and other assistance to guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Be available to work various shifts including early mornings and late nights.
  • Check all fixtures, equipment, and facility conditions (lights, toilets, water temperature, furniture, wallpaper, etc.) for proper operation, settings and maintenance. Report deficiencies.
  • Perform general maintenance as required – Replace and perform maintenance on such items as light bulbs, broken switches, contractors.
  • Completes assigned work orders for general repair within assigned time frame in order to achieve the utmost operational efficiency of the hotel and its equipment.
  • HVAC – Repair and preventative maintenance. Monitor temperatures for the walk in freezer and A/C units, boilers and other building systems.
  • Operate swimming pool to include balancing water and backwashing filters. Maintain pool and water in a safe condition for guests.
  • Move furniture, hang and remove drapes, and roll carpets as needed.
  • Performs systematic checks and inspections to aid in the upkeep of the hotel and assists in the established proactive maintenance program in order to prevent malfunctions, breakdowns and general depreciation.
  • Immediately and courteously responds to guests needs in order to repair and/or resolve room maintenance requests and problems as they arise.
  • Maintain all mechanical systems, including regular maintenance programs for all systems, including Laundry, HVAC, elevators, steam systems, electrical, building automation systems, telephone system, computer network, security cameras, plumbing, kitchens, boilers, pumps and motors.
  • Maintains tools, work spaces and equipment in safe, secure and good condition in order to reduce accidents and to prolong their use.
  • Adjusts and repairs electronic problems on hotel equipment, including televisions.
  • Assists department in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and employees.
  • Assist with snow removal including brushing off cars, shoveling and salting walkways as necessary.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous manner at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Education and/or Experience

Up to one month related experience or training; Less that high school education; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to communicate with others in a clear and professional manner.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Maintain a valid Driver’s License from the state which you reside with no major violations.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract numbers up to 100.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

The associate must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the associate is regularly exposed to chemicals, dust and odors. The associate is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate works in an environment open to the general public.
