The Houseman plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the hotel. This position involves supporting the housekeeping department by ensuring public areas, back-of-house spaces, and guest rooms are well-maintained and prepared for guests.
Here is a preview of the daily checklist:
Lobby
-Vacuum carpets and/or clean floor surfaces
-Wipe down and sanitize all surfaces including the Front Desk, Seating Area including Booths, Entrance, pillar
-Vacuum carpets or mop floors
-Public Bathroom
-Empty trash cans and replace liners in Lobby & Entrance Areas
Elevators, Hallways & Stairwell
-Wipe down and sanitize elevator buttons and walls
-Check for and remove any litter or debris
-Remove all trash from Stairwell areas
-Elevator Tracks
Ice Machine Areas (Each Floor)
-Empty ice bins and clean them thoroughly
-Wipe down and sanitize all surfaces of the ice machine
-Ensure the area around the ice machine is free of debris and spills
-Check the functionality of the machine and report any issues.
Fitness Center
-Wipe down and sanitize all equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, weights, etc.)
-Clean mirrors and windows
-Empty trash cans and replace liners
-Vacuum or mop floors
-Restock towels and water if provided
-Check for any maintenance issues and report them.
Swimming Pool Area
-Skim the pool surface to remove debris
-Check and adjust pool chemicals as needed
-Clean pool tiles and walls if necessary
-Ensure pool furniture is clean and arranged properly
Surrounding Area & Parking Lot:
-Vacuum or mop the deck and surrounding floors
-Wipe down and sanitize poolside furniture
-Empty trash cans and replace liners
-Check for and address any maintenance issues around the pool.
Outdoor Fire Pit Area
-Clean and sanitize the fire pit area
-Remove any debris or trash from the surrounding area
-Check and clean fire pit equipment (grates, logs, etc.)
-Ensure seating and tables are clean and arranged
-Wipe down grill if needed
-Restock any supplies (e.g., firewood, blankets) if applicable
Guest Requests:
-Address any special requests or additional cleaning tasks from guests
-Ensure that cleaning supplies and amenities are stocked and request replenishment if needed
Safety and Maintenance Checks:
-Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the appropriate department
-Ensure all areas are safe and free from hazards
End of Shift Report
-Document any issues encountered during the shift
-Update the log for any maintenance requests or special guest requests
