What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hotel General Manager position at Courtyard & TownePlace Suites by Marriott Jackson?
The TownePlace Suites by Marriott of Jackson, MI is designed for guests who are staying for 5 nights or more. Each suite boasts a fully equipped kitchen with full-size refrigerator, stove cooktop, dishwasher and includes dishes and cookware. Guests can also cook out on our beautiful patio on one of two natural gas Weber Grills, or relax with others around the gas firepit. Guests can also stay on their fitness routine in our 24-Hour fitness center, or can take a splash in our heated indoor saltwater pool.
We are seeking candidates to fill the position of General Manager. This person will lead the team by ensuring our associates are equipped with the proper tools to get the job done.
Responsibilities
- Manage all operations of the hotel, including the front desk, housekeeping, maintenance and breakfast.
- Ensure all associates receive proper training, are in proper uniform, and take care to follow up with new hires and answer questions that they may have.
- Ensure hotel is compliant with all brand and company standards so that the hotel successfully passes annual brand standards audits.
- Assist with sales, including setting up local negotiated rates, creating group blocks, booking the meeting room, and giving site tours.
- Build and maintain relationships with local organizations
- Ensure associates follow brand and company guidelines and address any workplace safety issues.
- Inspect hotel exterior, public spaces, back of house areas, and guestrooms daily for cleanliness and maintenance issues.
- Respond to guest feedback from guest satisfaction surveys and online reviews, and resolve customer care issues within required timeframe.
- Check cash drops and follow up with front desk associates regarding any discrepancies.
- Work with department leaders with ordering supplies, ensuring no orders are placed without final approval from the General Manager.
- Evaluate invoices from vendors and follow up with any discrepancies.
- Evaluate night audit reports daily and address any discrepancies.
- Participate in weekly revenue management and sales meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager.
Requirements
- Must have previous hotel experience and be well-rounded in every department. Previous hotel management experience is preferred.
- Must be able to work six days a week.
- Reside locally and be able to assume role within two weeks of accepting the position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
