Job Summary
As a Credentialed Education Specialist, you will work with students with various academic challenges. Your goal will be to help students overcome learning barriers and maximize their ability to learn and thrive in school. The level of intervention they require will be determined on a case-by-case basis, according to the parameters outlined in their individual education plans (IEP) or 504 plans.
Your students will vary in age from grades K-12, as determined by the school district. Their challenges may range from mild to moderate to severe. Your students may differ from those with sensory disabilities, such as visual or hearing impairments, to students with severe physical or cognitive delays or disabilities.
You may be assigned to work one-on-one with students in mainstream classrooms, collaborating with small groups, or providing individualized instruction in specialized classrooms to cater to their unique educational requirements. Your primary mission will be facilitating participation in the school day across various settings and fostering an environment that promotes positive learning experiences for your students.
You will regularly collaborate with other school-based behavioral health professionals, counselors, therapists, and paraprofessionals. You will also perform student evaluations and document student interventions and progress, ensuring alignment with the goals outlined in their IEP/504 plans.
